Daniel Radcliffe
He became officially involved in the acting profession "by accident". He had missed out on auditioning for a part in a television production of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist - his parents didn't think it would be a very good idea - but he was destined to make his small screen debut as another of Dickens' famous titular characters: David Copperfield, starring alongside Maggie Smith and Bob Hoskins.
"A friend suggested that I audition, as a bit of fun, for the role of David Copperfield. I never expected to actually get the part as I knew there would be hundreds of boys trying for it, so when I did, it came as a huge surprise."
The annual Christmas BBC period drama is very popular in the UK and this 1999 adaptation of the classic novel was particularly well received.
What happened next for Dan was unbelievable, and he landed the role of "Harry Potter", the famous, modern, literary character who stars in author J. K. Rowling's popular book series.
Dan has gone on to portray "Harry Potter" in the next three films adapted by J. K. Rowling's book series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The fourth film wrapped up in March 2005. Dan has openly admitted that he will also portray "Harry" in the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which begins filming in January 2006.
Dan is also set to play the part of Alan Strang the play Equus, Appearance date 27 Feb - 9 Jun 2007 in the Gielgud Theatre, London, UK.
Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon in the Harry Potter film series) will be playing the part of the psychiatrist, Martin Dysart. Thea Sharrock will be directing the production with rehearsals beginning in January 2007.

Equus is an emotional and psychological drama containing depictions of graphic acts of violence and scenes of nudity (in many productions). It is not suitable for a young audience.
